We love the early kick off and after a quick pitch inspection due to the frost we got the green light... GAME ON!!
Chapel Town were in the opposite corner this week, we've played them loads of times over the last 18 months so both sets of coaches knew what to expect.
We were missing Myles, Aiden and Mia this week but we welcomed Finn back after a spell out on loan.
After an awesome midweek training session we spoke to the kids about carrying the momentum into today's game... block the kick ins... pick the right pass... and enjoy it!
The sun had its hat on and so did the goalkeepers, not quite factor 30 weather yet but it's coming! 🌞🌞🌞
It was Chapel Town who started the game brightly, testing our keeper early doors but they soon bumped into Ryan, who met them head on down our left hand side. After rushing into his tackles he soon found his rhythm, turning the ball over and driving down that wing.
He had some brilliant efforts saved by the Chapel Town keeper but he played a big part in setting up our attacks, great week for Ryan 🤩
It was Finn who got us off the mark and it was so good to see him back playing football with his mates. He's on another planet this lad, it's knackering just watching him! He pressed every ball and played some lovely passes forward when he was under pressure, trusting his team mates and bringing them into the game. He took his first goal so well, wrapping his foot around the ball when it looked like the angle was too tight, clinical! Good to see you back Finn ⭐️
After his heroics last week it was another solid display from big Ted!
Organising everyone around him on the pitch, not only encouraging his defense to push forward but also trusting himself to deal with counter attacks... "push up boys I'll stay back"
When the ball came to him he waited for Chapel to push up, turning defense into attack in a flash, he broke their lines with some glorious through balls, something that he's starting to do week in week out! 👌🏻
Max was tasked with keeping their big lads quiet in the first half, he didn't give them time to settle and on the rare occasion they got past him he was quick to get back and recover, he's rapid for a big lad!
We moved him out to the left wing late in the 2nd half where he did a cracking job, he was driving down that side at every opportunity and when Chapel tried to clear a loose ball it was Max who sent it straight into the top corner to get a goal that he thoroughly deserved! 🎯
Harrison was in fine form once again, he's up there with Salah in the race for the golden boot this year! He could of had a hatfull today!
He hustled hard for every ball and used his strength when the ball was there to be won, you know he will put the graft in and today was no different. Another proper shift, capped off with a couple of excellent goals. 🥶
It was simple stuff from Ned in the first half, pumped up from some half time Jaffa cakes it was time to crank it up...
As Chapel piled forward his positioning was spot on and he was forcing their forwards out wide. It was nail biting stuff towards the end when we got caught on the counter from our own corner and just when it looked like we would be punished it was Ned who bravely managed to get his big toe on the ball to send what seemed like a certain goal out for a corner, phew! 😅
The warm up gives you an idea of what to expect from the kids and Reuben wasn't letting much past him... He carried that form into the game making some outstanding saves!
He saved it with his feet... he saved it with his knees... he was even making saves with his tummy! His positioning and reactions were spot on, when Chapel were through on goal he was rushing off his line to sprawl at their feet and even when it ended up in the back of the net he was straight back to his feet, banging his gloves together, ready to go again!
All of them had a great game today but our player of the match this week went to Reuben, who had one of his best games of the season! Well done Roo 🏆
Some tremendous football on display today, a game full of great goals, strong tackles and both keepers pulling off some outstanding saves for the cameras! Both sets of teams did themselves, their coaches and their parents proud!
Definitely one of them games that you didn't want to end! ⚽️
As we head into the final quarter of the season it's a pleasure to see how far the kids have come, not just in their ability but their attitude in training and games, we couldn't ask for more!
Good vibes only from these lot 💛🖤
