Proper nice weather all week and then chucking it down at weekend... sods law that init!
A damp and chilly start to our Sunday morning but the weather couldn't dampen our spirits, our under 8's are on fire 🔥🔥🔥
Ned was missing this week so according to Fifa our overall aggression decreased but not to worry we've got plenty of tough nuts in this team!
Our last encounter with Chinley Junior's was a right thriller in Glossop-illa.
We opened up Thursday nights training session with a rendition of happy birthday from the lads, it was Mia's birthday, so it was only right that she wore the captains armband today 💪🏻
On the back of scoring the winner for the girls team the day before, she was determined as ever to get back to it with the lads.
Playing as a right forward she was in her element, stopping Chinley playing out from the back with some well timed tackles and pouncing on the loose balls!
She was so unlucky not to score today but 10/10 for effort Mia, you were superb ⭐️
Myles got to play further forward after playing in defence for us last week and he took full advantage!
Just the 4 goals this week... and some class celebrations!
Some clinical finishing on display, his 2nd goal in particular where we've played it out from the back, put our passes together and he's finished it off with a powerful curling effort.
He linked up brilliantly with his team mates and deserved every single one of them goals, outstanding performance 🥶
We were delighted when Teddy got himself on the scoresheet, it's been a few weeks but it was worth the wait.
Thursday nights training was all about first time finishing and he timed a great effort from distance which found its way into the bottom corner, no celebration this time just a clenched fist and a jog back to the halfway line.
He was fired up straight from the kick off but once he relaxed he was playing them through balls to our wingers at every opportunity, another great game for the mullet man 🧑
Big Max was back and we didn't half miss him last week, he was desperate to get back in the mixer!
When Chinley marched forward he was the first one to get a foot in and steal the ball, driving forward with some powerful runs, his head was up today so when the shot wasn't on he made the smart moves and switched it to the forwards who were in acres of space.
A well taken goal in the 2nd half was the least he deserved and it was mint to have him back 😁
Aiden had his busiest game of the season so far, he listened to coach Joe and was much more involved, his positioning was much better this week especially in the 2nd half.
He was so unlucky not to score his first goal, it was squared across the box for him to finish but he couldn't get his timing right but not to worry... Myles finished it off! Be ready for the next one Aiden it's coming pal 😉
After playing the whole game last week Ryan and Harrison looked absoluty shattered this morning 😅
After a quick rest Ryan was back out on that left wing showing us what he can do.
He often finds himself in acres of space when he drifts out to the touchline and we've worked with him in training on receiving the ball with a good first touch, he's starting to cushion the ball better now, that first touch out of his feet and he's away, driving down the line looking to get his crosses into the box.
Keep that head up Ryan 👍🏼
Harrison had a quiet first half but after some half time oranges and a pep talk from the coaches he was pumped up and ready to go!
Hunting the ball down in the Chinley half and running at their defenders, he had plenty of chances that he just couldn't wrap his foot around but eventually towards the end he got his well deserved goal, standard 👌🏻
Reuben has been in fine form recently, making some outstanding saves and keeping us in some tight games.
Modern keepers are good with their feet so we're slowly starting to bring him into games when the defenders are under pressure by passing him the ball back, it's something new for him but with the coaches believing in him he's beginning to believe in himself.
We've seen opposition coaches criticise mistakes but we will always encourage bravery in this group, and when a goal kick landed straight at the feet of the Chinley forwards it was smashed into the top corner, it was a great finish and Reuben finished the game with a big smile on his face, not phased one bit 🤩
When Chapel found out last week that Finn wasn't playing it gave them a massive lift but he was back with us this week and he treated us to an out of this world performance!
He literally did everything but score, I lost count of the amount of goals that he set up and the chances he created.
He played on his own in defence in the first half, much like a quarter back, allowing our forwards to find space so he could pick them out with some long range passes.
He brought Reuben into the game by playing the ball to his feet, making runs out wide to make himself instantly available to receive the ball back.
He encouraged everyone to get forward and selfishly pushed us up the pitch whilst he sat back, much to to delight of our wide players who he was picking out time and time again.
He was unlucky not to score in the 2nd half but Chinley made some great blocks when he was having a go and he finished off the game by rallying the team with minutes to go like the game had just kicked off!!
Our player of the match went to Finn who was absolutely phenomenal 🏆
There's only 3 more league games left of the season before we turn our attention to tournaments and presentations, it's easy to look ahead but we can't look too far, let's finish strong Millers!
Keep working hard, keep shining and keep playing with smiles on your faces 💛🖤
