Match Report New Mills Juniors U7s vs Hazel Grove United Hornets U7s

Match Report U7s 29th March: Second Half Surge Shows Team's Quality and Character

A tale of two halves unfolded this weekend as the team demonstrated remarkable resilience and growing cohesion, particularly after the interval when they dominated proceedings with confident passing, clinical finishing, and relentless energy.

Despite missing Lily, whose return next week will be eagerly anticipated, the squad stepped up admirably to produce numerous moments of quality throughout the contest.

Elliott began between the posts, showcasing safe hands and good distribution, before moving to the left flank and then into more advanced positions after the break. His versatility proved invaluable as he found the net twice with composed finishes, capping an excellent all-around performance.

On the right side, Kit delivered a tireless display of energy and commitment, constantly providing an outlet with intelligent running both with and without the ball. His vision was epitomized by a sublime assist for Logan, creating the opportunity with precision timing and awareness.

Leo anchored the defence with remarkable composure beyond his years. His reading of the game allowed him to make several crucial interventions, while his assured passing from the back launched numerous promising attacks throughout the match.

Captain for the day Alistair led by example in advanced positions during the first half, positioning himself well to unleash several promising efforts that unfortunately didn't quite find their mark. His adaptability was evident as he later took over goalkeeping responsibilities with equal commitment.

Logan made an immediate impact upon his introduction, transforming the team's attacking threat with his direct running and intelligent movement. His pressing from the front caused constant problems for the opposition, while his clinical finishing was rewarded with two well-taken goals in a standout second-half performance.

Jude formed an effective partnership with Logan before later shifting to the left wing after the break. His combination play with teammates on the flanks created several promising situations, while his willingness to track back and support defensively exemplified the team's collective work ethic.

Thomas brought energy and determination to the left side, showing commitment in his defensive duties while looking to drive forward with the ball whenever possible. His willingness to take on opponents provided width and stretched the opposition defence.

Kingsley operated effectively through the middle, displaying clever link-up play with the wide players that created space and opportunities. He was unfortunate not to convert any of his well-struck efforts, but his movement and technical ability contributed significantly to the team's fluid attacking play.

While the first half saw the opponents take more of the chances, the transformation after the break was remarkable. From the restart, the team seized control with impressive work rate, crisp passing sequences, and a barrage of shots that reflected their growing confidence and understanding.

With Lily hopefully returning to bolster the squad next week, the signs are extremely promising as the team continues to develop both individually and collectively.
