Match Report NMJ U7s vs Hazel Grove Hornets U7s – 5th April 2025

This weekend's match showcased the team's focus on teamwork and collective effort, with every player demonstrating their commitment to supporting one another throughout both halves.

The welcome return of Lily provided a boost to the squad, though the absence of Thomas and Kingsley was felt. Nevertheless, the players on duty stepped up admirably to produce a performance full of encouraging signs.

Elliott began the contest in goal, making several important interventions with confident handling and good distribution, before moving to the left flank and then into more advanced areas after the break. His forward runs created numerous opportunities for teammates as he demonstrated his versatility and game awareness.

On the right side, Kit delivered another tireless display, constantly making himself available both in attack and defence with relentless running. His adaptability was highlighted when he shifted to central defence for the second half, nearly capping his performance with a goal when his well-struck free kick was cleared off the line.

Captain Leo led by example from the heart of defence, reading the game superbly and making several perfectly timed challenges. His composure and precise passing setting the tone before he assumed goalkeeping responsibilities after the interval with great enthusiasm.

Alistair made a significant impact upon his introduction in advanced positions, working tirelessly to press and create openings. His perseverance was rewarded with a memorable first goal of the season in the second half – a moment that prompted heartwarming celebrations from his delighted teammates, perfectly embodying the collective spirit emphasized in training.

Logan continued his impressive form in attacking areas, combining clever movement with direct running to cause constant problems. His clinical finishing was on display with another well-taken goal, while he was desperately unlucky not to add a second when his expertly executed free kick rattled the crossbar.

Jude brought energy and determination to the left flank, with his willingness to run with the ball and commitment to tracking back providing crucial balance to the team. His passing was crisp and purposeful, helping to maintain possession and build attacking momentum.

Making a welcome return to the lineup, Lily immediately reminded everyone of her value with an energetic display in forward areas. Her tenacious tackling and intelligent pressing high up the pitch disrupted the opposition's rhythm, while her link-up play with fellow attackers created several promising situations.

Throughout the match, the team focus on teamwork was evident in the way players covered for one another, communicated effectively, and celebrated each other's successes. This collective approach yielded numerous promising passages of play that reflected the growing understanding within the group.

As the team continues to develop both individually and collectively, this performance provided further evidence of their progress and potential the last few games and seasons to come.
