Match report NMJ under 12 girls Vs Tintwistle - 16/09/23
The start of a new season brought a new chapter in the girls development.
At the end of last season, the difficult decision was made to allow the younger members of the team to stay and play in their own year group and let the older members of the team spread their wings and join other teams.
Following a recruitment drive in the summer we have gained some new players and they certainly didn’t disappoint today.
From the outset the girls were on it, they decided that they wanted to play attacking football and that’s what they did pressing straight from the whistle.
Scarlett on the right and Jaz and on the left were a constant threat throughout winning balls and taking players on to create chances.
Delilah playing up front on her own was a target player for the midfields to aim towards, she would win a tackle and press forward leaving defenders having to give chase, she was very unlucky to not bag herself a goal today, don’t worry it will come soon.
Midfield was bossed by Nieve and Ellie today, tough tackling and superb breaks forward, pressing wherever possible but also tracking back when needed to support the defence.
Massive credit must go to our defence today.
New to the team apart from Izzy and they certainly didn’t look out of place. Calm and controlled under pressure with some great interceptions from Mia, Lily and Georgie.
Praise needs to go to Izzy today who helped and supported her new teammates at the back, she was nervous at the start of the game being the more experienced member of the defence, we asked her to help and support the others and she did that in abundance. Quiet and controlled, nothing went past her and she took to the extra responsibility with pride.
Goals today came from Jaz x 2 and Scarlett. All of which were well worked team goals with controlled passing and dribbling. Earning the team a 3-3 draw in their first game together.
Lots of potential to grow on, we can’t wait to work with you girls this season!
Player of the match today was voted by the parents and spectators on the sidelines, they gave it to Taylor our goalkeeper, so brave against some tough shots from Tintwistle she also almost got a hand on their penalty shot. Well done Taylor you tough cookie!
