Match report NMJFC NMJFC u12 Girls V Brooklands Dragons - 30/09/23
A fresh early start for Play Safe weekend and with a positive mindset and supporting attitude the girls monopolised for 60 minutes.
A brief pre match chat was the ratio of shots and actual goals from elite teams so they went out and seized every opportunity they could.
Fantastic when they play the attacking game and have that sense of belief in themselves.
Blink and you’d have missed the opening goal straight from the whistle from our Ellie, both her and Scarlett toughing it out in those central areas meaning Jaz and Del could stay wide and both did a sterling job of utilising the wing space to move the ball forward.
Even with an early lead it took a few minutes to then settle in but communication from every single player made a massive difference to their game.
Ellie a real threat today, squeezing through a tight midfield, determined as ever and bagged herself another, with renewed energy they fought on.
A wonderful ball through from Del to the waiting feet of Jaz who had anticipated the pass and scored to make it 3.
Some silky skills from Del today, especially the turn and shoot and a wonderful header, unlucky to not find the back of the net all game but what a game you had!
5 minutes left of the first half, Scarlett makes a run down far wing and from close to the goal line slices in a trick shot to get on the scoresheet, a jaw dropping goal from such an angle!
Think they might have sat back a little with a few minutes remaining but another for Scarlett from close range and just moments before the whistle Jaz again, skinned multiple players, pushed into space, brought the ball inside with confidence...back of the net.
Impressed with the strength and crossing of both Scarlett and Jaz today and grit from Del and Ellie which kept the ball out of our half and left Taylor giving us a wave from the goal mouth and shouting praise to her team mates.
Few nice little saves from Tay today and improved goal kicks, assessing the risks and picking out players.
Izzy captain for today lead from the back and helped to ease in Lily and Mia as a strong, high back line, got the ball back out wide and her calmness to draw the player to her before getting rid of the ball is great to see, although leaves us coaches holding our breath.
Lily and Mia both strong with great ability to get that ball back up the pitch and force players out wide and win the ball, great job girls.
Second half started and Ellie bagged herself a hat-trick with a left footed sweet shot!
Del’s positivity and resilience taking shot after shot was a highlight for me, it’ll come Del, one off the post and many more on target. We dropped Georgie back into defensive position to push Mia up to use the strength on shots that she showed pre-match and Georgie did a fine job of chasing down players and finding the feet of Jaz, some tight, combination play over on left wing today!
Mia in a more central position took the opportunity and got her first goal for the team, superb! Let’s see more of that Mia, you have marked superbly well today, intercepted passes and won possession every time, so humble too!
Just to put the icing on the cake for the Millers, Scarlett finished it off to get her first hat-trick too!I want to commend them all on the support they gave each other today, the constructive play and communication, a real team effort.
All this left the coaches debating player of the match, as it could’ve been any number of players for different reasons.
Hoping POTM gives this player a real boost, the coaches recognised the capabilities and difference this girl achieved in such a short space of time… goes to Mia. Well deserved.
The whole team were applauded by away supporters with many a compliment to boot. Well done girls.
