WOW …. What a great way to finish the season. Playing a strong physical team for the third time this season we knew we would have to be at our best to bring home the cup.
Wythenshawe started strong putting the Millers under pressure from the kick off.
The Millers were a little nervous to start with but it didn’t take long for the boys to settle into the game and play their exciting style of football.
Oli C bossed his area all day, mixing up the kick outs to keep the opponents guessing.
Even bagged himself an assist due to his quick thinking, playing a perfect long ball.
Defensive pairings of Eddie, Bobby, Leyton, Brodie battled as if they're life’s depended on it. Some excellent play out from the back resulted in Eddie sprinting down the wing and giving an inch perfect pass to Remo who finished calmly into the corner.
Midfielders Jimmy, Remo, Tyler, Harry P, Oli F, Leighton and Sam were rock solid working as a unit helping the defence when needed as well as pressing forward at pace setting up attack after attack.
Forwards Harry F and Joseph worked there socks off, pressuring their opponents kick outs; not giving time to settle and rushed their opponents into making mistakes.
Harry F excellently controlled and slotted home the Millers second just before half time.
The second half was played at an astounding pace, both teams playing some great football. Both teams trying to control the game, it was magnificent to watch. You could feel the nerves and tension from both players, coaches and supporters as the game reached its final 10 minutes.
The Millers were awarded a penalty in the match and Harry P stepped up the slot home an excellently taken penalty.
As if this final couldn't get anymore tense; things finished all square; so it was to be penalty’s to decide the winners.
Excellently taken penalties and super saves from Oli C rewarded the cup to New Mills.

The ‘brainmat’ players of the match goes to all the team. Each of the boys played their part in what was a hard battle in extremely hot conditions. Well done each and every one of you! The coaches are so proud of you.
