As half-term draws to an end, we were down to a starting line-up of six today. With two of our three coaches also away, we were incredibly grateful for Coach Caz stepping in to save the day and ensure the match could go ahead. Thank you, Coach Caz!
We began the game with Emily in goal, and as always, she put on a fantastic display of shot-stopping ability. Her confidence between the posts was evident as she made a series of excellent saves, last-minute clearances, and distributed the ball well to her teammates.
In defence, Poppy and Annabella formed a strong and reliable partnership. Annabella put in some fantastic tackles, tussled hard for the ball, and read the game well. Poppy was not only a solid presence in defence but also pushed forward effectively, making some impressive runs from the back.
Seren started on the left and Millie on the right, both eager to make an impact. Seren threw herself into the game from the first whistle, showing great determination. Unfortunately, a nasty kick to the shin forced her to leave the match early, leaving us with just five players against a 6-sided Bollington. With Seren out, Poppy moved up to the left flank, leaving Annabella as the lone defender. Millie played a strong game on the right, making several important tackles and runs forward. Up front, Paige led the attack with confidence, dropping into midfield when needed and getting some good shots on target.
For the second half, Millie took over in goal, while Emily moved to the right. Emily's presence outfield added a new dimension to the game. She put in a great performance, complementing the team’s efforts with renewed energy and strong attacking runs.
Poppy controlled the left wing brilliantly, running tirelessly up and down the flank.
Paige continued to put pressure on the opposition with some well-taken shots and strong leadership up front.
Annabella remained solid at the back, sweeping up any danger with composure.
Millie made some excellent saves in goal, collecting the ball well and distributing it superbly to her teammates.
The highlight of the match came from a well-earned goal. Poppy hustled one of the Bollington midfielders and Emily, quick to react, picked up the loose ball and slotted it coolly into the back of the net—a goal well worth celebrating!
Every single player gave their all today, showing incredible teamwork, determination, and resilience. We couldn’t have asked for any more from them.
Player of the Week was awarded to Poppy, who stepped up her game this week, working tirelessly across the pitch, making crucial tackles, and moved well with the ball, covering a lot of ground.
Today was a standout game for all the players, who all stepped up their game to make up for the shortfall in numbers. Well done girls, and thank you Coach Caz for stepping in to help us out!
