Match Report NMJFC U10 Girls vs Bramhall North 75 U10s Girls  26/10/2024

We started this week’s match with Millie taking her place in goal (despite not feeling her best today).

In defence, Annabella and Ava formed a formidable partnership, while the midfield trio of Emily, Ebony, and Poppy controlled the game's tempo with their excellent ball movement and passing.

Leading the attack was Jessica, whose exceptional running and strong play kept the opposition's defence on their toes.

New Mills kicked off the match with a solid performance.

The defensive duo of Annabella and Ava showcased great synergy, making it hard for the opponents to break through. Millie in goal displayed commendable fighting spirit, making the necessary saves when called upon.

The midfield trio of Emily, Ebony, and Poppy demonstrated excellent ball movement and passing. Their understanding of positions was evident, and they put in some brave tackles against a very physical opponent.

Jessica, leading the attack, made exceptional runs and played her position strongly, ensuring constant pressure on the opposing defence. Paige was soon introduced to the game, bolstering the team's offensive lineup, and soon Emily scored the first goal from a well-placed pass by Poppy inside the box. Despite being slightly taken aback by the physicality of the game, the girls maintained their composure and skilful play.

The first half ended on a high note, setting the stage for an even better second half.

The second half saw Emily taking over as goalkeeper, a position she requested to play. The team's link-up play was impressive, characterised by smooth passes and a good flow of the game. Poppy continued her excellent performance with smart runs and timely defensive work. Jessica and Millie also made significant contributions with their persistent running.

Then it was time for Paige, who delivered a stunning goal from just inside the edge of the area, demonstrating her powerful shooting skills which we are seeing week in and week out.

New Mills continued to dominate, with several players, including Ebony, Emily, and Annabella, hitting the post. Ebony eventually found the back of the net with a precise shot to the back post, scoring from a well-executed pass. This goal was a testament to the team's perseverance and skill against a tough and physical opponent.

Our girls, week on week, display outstanding teamwork sportsmanship, and their ability to adapt and excel under pressure highlights the potential of this squad. The girls did not let the physicality of the other team disrupt their play, instead, they responded with skilful tackles, talented passes, and cohesive play. As we’re finding each week at the moment, the girls performance in their totality means a number of them could have been awarded Player of the Week, but this week Jessica earned the accolade for her exceptional performance. She showcased excellent ball handling, increased her game intensity, and demonstrated a keen awareness of her positioning, contributing significantly to our girl’s success. Well done girls, another beautiful game to watch and be part of!
