Match Report NMJFC U10 Girls vs Hough End Griffins U10s - 09/11/2024

Despite a sluggish start, today's game was a great game to watch as the girls are growing in confidence and skill with each passing minute. Emily, starting in goal, demonstrated her emerging command of the position with vocal instructions and a number of impressive saves in the first half, keeping the team’s defence steady and organised.

The defensive pairing of Millie and Agnes was formidable.

Agnes, back from a two-week break, wasted no time reasserting herself, making crucial tackles and accurate passes to launch the attack.

Millie, always eager to press forward, displayed vision with her runs and quick passes through the middle, maintaining offensive momentum.

Seren, positioned on the left wing, showed renewed energy, often the first to challenge for the ball and dropping back to assist the defence when required. In the center, Jessica's quick passes helped open up play, finding opportunities out wide and tracking back as needed.

Ebony was tireless on the right, fighting for possession and pushing the ball forward with determined runs, adding pressure to keep the team on the attack.

Paige led the front line, and was a constant threat to the opponents and soon set the tone with an unstoppable free-kick goal, driving the ball from distance into the top right corner.

Not long after, Millie added another stunning goal, racing down the right, cutting in with precision, and passing a shot into the far corner.

Then to introduce our subs, first Annabella, whose midfield tenacity was immediately impactful. She pressed high, made tackles, and controlled the pace, even daring to take a shot from halfway.

Poppy continued her weekly growth, showing attentiveness and confidence with each play, executing passes and advancing up field with purpose.

Ava, a well-rounded contributor, delivered strong tackles, surged up the wing, and consistently crossed the ball into the box.

Agnes took over in goal for the second half, proving solid in her new role with decisive stops and good distribution. The game remained closely contested as the opposing team presented their own formidable talent. Despite this, our girls held their ground, creating chances, testing the defence with shots on target, and working seamlessly as a unit.

The girls’ hard work in all areas - defence, attack, communication, and adaptability - was evident, a testament to their commitment to one another and to the game.

Seren earned the Player of the Week honour, for her demonstration of exceptional teamwork, sportsmanship, and attentiveness to the coaches instructions. Her all-around effort – whether pushing forward or tracking back – was indispensable. Congratulations, Seren, and well done to all the players! Their unity and resilience are nothing short of inspiring!
