Match Report NMJFC U10 Girls vs Reddish North End Girls U10s Maroon 22/03/2025

Writer: R.OakesR.Oakes

In a last-minute change, Annabella bravely stepped up as goalkeeper in today's match, and put in a brilliant performance, making excellent saves, distributing the ball well from the back, and showing great awareness with her sweeping clearances. Her resilience set the tone for a determined team display.

At the heart of the defense, Poppy and Ava worked tirelessly.

Ava read the game superbly, pushing forward and delivering precise passes down the right-hand wing.

Poppy played with strength, displaying a solid first touch and driving the ball forward to create offensive opportunities. Both defenders stood firm, intercepting attacks and frustrating the opposition.

Jessica took charge in central midfield, covering ground relentlessly and distributing the ball smartly to the wings, where Millie and Paige were ready to pounce. Millie’s direct running put the opposing defense under pressure, and she was unlucky to hit the post on one occasion.

Paige, playing on the right, tackled fearlessly and ran into space with intent. Her touches on the ball were excellent, and she consistently linked up well with the attack.

Up front, Ebony was tasked with testing the opposition keeper, a challenge she embraced fully, forcing multiple saves. Eventually, Paige, by switching to the left, broke through and finished with a strike the goalkeeper had no chance of stopping.

Seren and Emily were introduced to add fresh energy to the attack. Seren made determined runs through the middle, chasing down through balls, though luck wasn’t on her side.

Emily, however, produced a moment of brilliance. Picking up the ball from the halfway line, she showed confidence and composure, despite being challenged, cutting in from the left before coolly slotting the ball through the keeper’s legs for a fantastic goal.

The first half was closely contested, but the team played with intelligence, maintaining their shape and supporting each other well.

In the second half, Poppy took over in goal. She timed her runs well to collect loose balls and distributed from the back with confidence. Also despite re-opening a recent knee injury, she bravely soldiered on for the whole second half.

Annabella moved into defense alongside Ebony, forming a solid partnership. Both players read the game well, stepping up for tackles and launching counter-attacks. Ebony, played some excellent balls down the right, setting up opportunities for her teammates.

Jessica continued to push forward, coming agonisingly close to scoring on occasions. Seren worked tirelessly on both flanks, finding herself one-on-one with the keeper but just missing out. Millie maintained her energetic runs, while Paige was unstoppable, taking on two defenders and scoring a stunning goal. Emily dropped into defense when needed but also drove forward with confidence, while Ava commanded the midfield, making dangerous runs down the left.

It was an impressive all-round performance from the entire team, competing against a physical side with intelligence and confidence. Each player showed improvement and a deeper understanding of their role. It was an enjoyable match to watch, with the girls demonstrating great teamwork and determination.

Player of the Week went to Paige, who showed immense growth, controlled the ball well, scored two goals, and played through a wrist injury without hesitation. She worked tirelessly for the team, as did all the girls. A fantastic effort from everyone—well done!
