Match Report NMJFC U10 Hornets v Tytherington 1987 Juniors - 15/2/25

Writer: R.OakesR.Oakes

Late Kick-Off for The Hornets this weekend who don't often have to wait til the afternoon to start at Stockport Life Leisure Centre where we were up against Tytherington. Yet another team who we have never played before and this is the buzz of changing leagues as you never know what you’re going to be up against.  Just like last week, we always ask the boys to put in a shift, 100% effort, leave nothing out there, give it your best. To a boy, every single one of them did that!

Speaking of last weekend (Wythenshawe Wanderers Wasps) - There was no match report so I should commend the boys for a great performance when once again, Fenn kept us in the game. Once again Albie⚽️ found the back of the net, this time with a delicate touch from an 'Ederson Style' route-one kick from our keeper Fenn that bounced just once...... but perfectly, for our Maestro to slot home. Once again, Finley was our rock! Finners🏆 got the POTM last weekend (again) and this lad represents everything we are striving to achieve. Hard-Graft, Dedication, Adaptability & Passion. A tremendous match that was very even and left the coaches with plenty of positive stuff to work on in training.

Back to this weekend, when we had the opportunity to put into practice everything we had worked on in midweek training. Oliver L became a giant at the back. He had listened and taken onboard the advice given to him from his coaches, but more importantly, his parents! Tough, rough & ready, yet calculated and Oliver L nailed his decision making. Oliver B also deserves a special mention too. Never one to moan, he had to take a Man-Marking position in the second-half. No questions asked, he simply fulfilled the instruction and totally nullified one the best players we have ever seen at this level. He did a job for the team and it allowed us to improve as a group. Both Oliver L & Oliver B were awesome!

More tough matches ahead as The Hornets fight for the right to stay in the top-flight of a very tough league, We can only ask the boys to turn up with the right attitude, the desire & the belief that we can compete at this level!

I have to keep reminding myself that it’s only Under 10’s football. At the same time I can see such huge potential in every member of the team. If we all pull in the same direction I honestly think we could achieve new heights and go further than we ever expected. One game at a time though….

Richmond Rovers next for a an eye-watering 'Early Kick-Off'.

Let’s get back to business boys. Enjoy the half-term break and we will come back stronger.

POTM – Oliver L🏆 who showed us another dimension to his character. A genuine willingness to improve and go up another level . . . . . A coaches dream!

⚽️🖤💛⚽️
