Match Report NMJFC U11 girls - 10/02/24

U11 girls vs Stockport Vikings

This week was another brilliant football match to watch against two good teams.

A couple of players were unavailable, meaning the girls only had 7 players and therefore no subs. A good work ethic and determination from each player was needed and that’s exactly what we got.

First half was generally quite tight with both defences on top. A couple of half chances fell to New Mills but the Vikings keeper was good. The same can be said of Millie in the Millers goal, a couple of great saves first half to tip the ball round the post.

Midfield was immense today; Isla, Lily and Brooke didn’t stop running all game. They all helped defensively and were always a threat going forward.

The break at half time and a regroup saw New Mills dominate the early part of the second half. A great through ball from Brooke released Elsie⚽️ whose first time finish beat the keeper.

It wasn’t long before Elsie⚽️ got her second of the game as the girls played some great football.

As a base for the teams good play, Florence and Emily were great at the back generally coped well with the skilful forwards. The way they pass and bring the ball out from defence shows their growing confidence in their ability.

Brooke was taking some great corners today and one fell to Elsie ⚽️ at the back post to grab another goal (Elsie told the ref it was an OG but it was definitely her goal 😉)

Late on the girls began to tire but continued to battle really hard as Stockport Vikings pressed for some late goals. New Mills remained a threat however and both Lily and Brooke came close.

Another really entertaining game for the supporters and its brilliant to see the girls perform well week in week out.

Today’s deserved player of the match was Isla 🏆. She dominated the middle of the pitch, passed the ball forward and didn’t stop running for the team

⚽️🖤💛⚽️
