Match Report NMJFC U12 girls vs Cheadle & Gatley - 30/03/25

Another brilliant game at the Rec this week as the girls faced Cheadle & Gatley. Only one point separated them in the league and as expected the match was close

New Mills started the better team, and in truth were throughout the game. Esmee started in a new position for her of centre midfield and was excellent. Her runs forward and link up play with Brooke, Emily and Lily D created chances.

Cheadle had some pace on the attack and were a threat. On the counter they broke clear and despite Millie making a great save, another player was on hand to score the opener.

Within a matter a minutes the scores were level; good play down the right saw the ball fall to Lily D who found the corner.

Second half was more of the same with New Mills being the better side but Cheadle dangerous on the break

This was one of those halves where the ball just wouldn’t go in. Esmee, Lily D, Florence and Emily to name a few all had chances but combinations of the crossbar, goalkeeper and bad luck meant we didn’t score.

Towards the end it looked like Cheadle would snatch a winner but Millie pulled off the save of the season to tip the ball round the post.

Despite Millie’s heroics in goal, player of the match went to Esmee for a great game in midfield
