Match Report NMJFC U12 Girls vs Macclesfield Town - 16/03/25

The girls travelled to Macclesfield this week in what was a really competitive fixture against a good opponent.
New Mills started the better and looked dangerous. After about 5 minutes the girls took the lead with Esmee finding the net from inside the box.
The Millers attacking players of Esmee, Brooke, Lily D and Emily were all in good form and caused real problems for the Macclesfield defence.
Against the run of play Macclesfield equalised with a great finish that gave Millie no chance.
Half time and the girls were a little disappointed not to be ahead but came out second half and performed just as well as the first.
Defensively New Mills were solid all game; Neve, Erin, Ella and Evie all had good games and restricted Macclesfield to only a few opportunities.
In midfield, Lucie Isla and Florence did well to break up the play and pass the ball forward to the attackers.
Halfway through the second half New Mills were awarded a penalty for a foul on Esmee. Emily stepped up and the keeper pushed it onto the post but Emily followed it in and put us ahead.
With about 10 minutes to go, New Mills sealed victory; Brooke played a great ball to Lily D who finished well.
Final score Macclesfield Town 1-3 New Mills.
Contenders for player of the match were Brooke, who was brilliant on the wing, and Erin but we went with Millie in goal. Her handling was excellent all game as she dominated her penalty area.
