Glorious morning for a game of football and it was definitely raining goals for the Millers. All the boys were in top form and pressed forward to take the game to their opponents from the start.
Three goals in the first eight minutes set the scene with Remo, Harry P and Oli F on target with strong shots that would trouble any keeper. While being tested with some long balls on a short pitch the defence had to be aware and expect the unexpected.
Leighton, Brodie and Joseph along with goalkeeper Oli C kept to their task well and played some beautiful football out from the back setting up attack after attack with Jimmy motoring up and down the wing creating several chances for the attackers.
Harry F bagged a fourth for the Millers before Harry P and Oli F scored their second each of the match to bring the Millers into a commanding lead. Harry P and Bobby took turns in the defensive midfield position both controlling the game beautifully.
With ten minutes left in the first half super sub Lucas came onto the field eager to impress. It didn’t take long for Lucas to settle into the game and bagged a hat trick before halftime.
In a comfortable position the coaches wanted to challenge the boys and put them all in different positions for the second half.
Leighton took over in goals to give Oli C a run outfield with both boys enjoying the switch; the wingers, attacking midfielders and forwards played in defensive and the fullbacks and holding midfielders played as wingers and forwards. This was interesting and some times entertaining to watch as the boys naturally keep drifting back into their usual positions.
It didn’t stop the scoring with Harry F, Brodie (2), Harry P and Oli C adding to the goal count for the second half to give the boys their sixth win in a row.
The ‘brainmat’ man of the match Lucas. Lucas is a new comer to the team this season and is settling in nicely. Always wanting to learn. Well done Lucas.
