Second last game of the season and knowing a win would guarantee them jointed league winners as a minimum was enough motivation for the boys this afternoon.
The Millers started strong against a well organised Wythenshawe Tigers team. After a few half chances misses for the Millers, it was that man Remo who opened the scoring with an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box.
Now settled in the game the Millers continued to attack mixing the play up beautifully and this time it was Hazza bursting though from half way before smashing the ball to the back of the net for a superb individual goal to give the Millers a 2-0 lead.
Leading 2-0 at half time the team talk was simple from the coaches, relax and play your style of game and keep doing what you are doing.
The 3rd came soon into the 2nd half with a fine long range shot from Max that the keeper couldn’t hold and it found its way into the back of the net. Wythenshawe struck back almost immediately with a long ball forward creating a scramble in the box to net their first of the match.
This angered the Millers who played the perfect game from this point. The defence pushed up letting the midfielders, wingers and attackers play in the opposition half of the pitch and pinned their opponents back. It was like a flick of the switch moment where they said to themselves enough is enough.
Some fantastic play followed, resulting in the Millers hitting four unanswered goals before the end of the game.
Jimmy finished from a well executed team passing attack, Oli F with a thunderbolt of a shot of the edge of the box, Harry F with a cheeky but well executed lob from outside the box before Max finished the scoring with his second of the game.
The brainmat man of the match goes to Joseph. Joseph was excellent in the back line today not letting anyone passed him, his grim determination in the second half of the season has really impressed and to quote one of the parents ‘he has turned into one of the most annoying defenders to play against as he doesn’t know when he is beaten and is definitely not afraid to tackle’. Well done Joseph.
