Match report NMJfC U12s v Richmond Rovers Blues - 30/09/23
The Millers had an early kick off away to Richmond Rovers blues. The warm up gave the players a chance to adjust to the ground and understand how the ball might flow.
It was a fairly evenly matched first half and both sides had plenty of play and possession. The ground was wet and the ball was greasy which meant the players had to work harder to allow the flow of the game to be maintained. There were some great chances created by both sides and a goal line header clearance from Darragh helped to keep the score line level at half time, 0-0.
Coaches “Ten Hag” Oakes and “Fergie”Crawshaw made some outstanding managerial decisions throughout. The half time talk must have been inspirational as the team was pumped, ready for the second half.
The first goal came from a lovely bit of work involving Dan W’s lay off to Bertie who whipped it into the middle of the right side of the goal. The opposition replied immediately from a through ball, with a well taken shot from just on the edge of the box.
Dan W gave Darragh another lay off and an almost carbon copy of Bertie’s goal saw Darragh’s left foot and a well taken goal to make it 2-1 to the Millers. The Millers were on fire, ready to make their mark.
The next goal came in quick succession. Dan W played a lovely ball through two defenders and Darragh ran on to it, composed himself and skill fully managed to get round the keeper to slot his second goal home. The next goal came from Bertie, a powerful shot off the crossbar and in the back of the net.
With both Darragh and Bertie on for a hat trick, it was anyone’s guess who might get it but Bertie came out tops to make the score 5-1. Another lovely move saw the opposition’s keeper save it but the rebound came to Harry T and his powerful shot was unstoppable and in the back of the net. 6-1
Archie is beginning to be more vocal, ensuring his defenders know when he’s on the ball. Our defence of Daniel F, Indie, Cole, Alex and Cookie were excellent throughout as the opposition found it difficult to get past them. In the centre of the pitch the birthday boy, Bobby along with Mayson and Indie controlled their areas well. They produced some nice football and passes for the others to convert from.
A very good result for the Millers.
Thanks to Richmond Rovers Blues for a great game, the referee who officiated and all the supporters both at home and on the sideline.
POTM Darragh - excellent work rate on both wings, great header off line to stop opposition, lovely passes and skill on the ball.
