A match between 2 teams battling intensely for the 3 points on offer. The Millers started well and we're rewarded when Darragh was brought down in the box and Bobby dispatched the resulting penalty. The 1st half was played with great intensity and the quality of both teams was on display. New Mills had 2 great chances to stretch there lead with one saved well and the other put wide.
Tytherington got into the ascendancy in the final 15 minutes of the half creating a few chances with the New Mills defence working tirelessly to keep them out.
Tytherington were rewarded with a goal just before half time with a super finish from range.
The 2nd half was similar to the 1st with great quality on show and no let up in the intensity the game was being played at.
The Millers started to wrestle an element of control and we're looking dangerous with the front 3 getting in behind the Tytherington defence.
New Mills got there 2nd when a fantastic ball from Bobby fed Bertie into space on the right, he played the ball low across the box for Darragh to tap it in at the back post.
The Millers were awarded another penalty when Bertie was tackled well in the box, Mayson followed up and was taken out from behind, Bobby again dispatching the spot kick.
I think today was the best I have seen the U13s defensive unit play, working hard to ensure that they didn't concede again.
This was a great spectacle for grassroots football between 2 very good teams.
POTM was Freddie who was a colossus at the back, not getting beaten in his duels and using the ball well when in possession. 👏
