Match report NMJFC U13s girls - 26/04/25

Haven't written a match report in a while now they're older but felt compelled to share ours today, and not because of the scoreline but because the girls played the whole match as a solid team and today was what we like to see them do.

Each celebrated & worked hard and smashed it and it was a joy to watch.  Some excellent foot work from Nieve, who partnered well with Alissa on the left and with excellent communication resulted in a goal for Alissa just seven minutes in.

Nieve then followed up 2 minutes later with an assist from Mia. With a two nil lead the girls settled into the game and Nieve again found the back of the net.

Then, a few minutes before the half time whistle, Del also pushed one over the line.

Great battling to be first to the ball today Del and real unselfish play.

Excitement ensued at the half time whistle and they went into the second half with the same energy. With some well thought out subbing from the sidelines as a rest was well needed for some, we switched up a couple of positions and Annie-Mae calmy looked up and smashed one home, rattling the back of the net. You played your role today in that central position, well done.

Corner taking was spot on from both Mia and Grace who also got behind the ball and sent it back up the pitch for Alissa to get her second.

Grace you have come into your own as right back there!

Isla had a tough battle all through first half with a well matched opponent but showed resilience and determination throughout, was unlucky to not find the back of the net herself but wasn't for want of trying, got in front of her marker and pressed the keeper really well.

Lily showed great skills as centre back and worked round her players and again, plays with a smile on her face the whole game while Izzy laid on some fantastic line hugging passes down that left side, was a great support to Alissa too.

First Mia then Del & Annie down the centre of the pitch were physically strong throughout and fought for every 1v1.

With 2 players on 2 goals each us coaches were loathe to bring them off and encouraged them to work for that longed for hatrick.  With help from their team mates of course, first Nieve in the 68th minute and before you could say a nice home win, Alissa also got hers right in the goal mouth, another assist from Mia. Last but by no means least, a huge shout out to Taylor today, clean sheet, full of tonsilitis, wanted to stay between the sticks for the good of the team, loving the go long balls and quick decisions too!

Currently sitting at the top of the table with just a point in it & 2 games to go. Come on the girls.

The whole team shared the trophy today but Tay gets to display it on her mantlepiece, well deserved too.
