Whaley Bridge U13s 2-4 NMJFC U13s
A cold, fresh morning at Chapel leisure centre, perfect conditions for a game of football. The match was eagerly anticipated as we all knew that it was 2 very well matched teams. It didn't let us down as excellent football was played throughout by all.
The young Millers took the lead midway through the 1st half when India took a quick throw in, which released Jess, who ran through and finished superbly. This was doubled when Mayson finished a superb team move.
New Mills managed to keep Whaley out in the first half due to some fine defending and good goalkeeping.
The 2nd half again was played in good spirits with plenty of quality football on show. Whaley scored early on in the half with a slick team move of their own. The young Millers were quick to restore the 2 goal cushion when Mayson was put through on goal and finished with a lovely dink.
With about 15 minutes to go New Mills failed to deal with a corner properly by not getting out to the 2nd ball quick enough giving too much space for the Whaley player to finish well.
Mayson settled everyone's nerves by completing his hat-trick and earned the team a well deserved win.
A great game of football.
POTM went to Bobby, fantastic match, great tempo with an unbelievable range of passing. Tough tackling also winning all of his duels.
