Match report NMJFC U15 vs Buxton Young Bucks Yellows
A good chilly afternoon for a game of football, Ollersett was in fantastic condition for January. We were expecting a good game against a technically very good Buxton team, which is exactly what we got. The young Millers were quick out of the blocks, playing some fantastic football, creating plenty of chances, especially with good combinations down the right from Blake and Toft.
New Mills were looking solid at the back and were given a couple of signs what Buxtons biggest weapon was that Theo dealt with well. Despite the dominance from New Mills with several big chances missed, the score at the break was 0-0.
The 2nd half started with New Mills continuing to control the game, although Buxton were beginning to look more of a threat.
New Mills eventually got the goal that their play thoroughly deserved 10 mins into the half, a ball from midfield over the top of the Buxton defence for Toft to run onto and finish well. This seemed a catalyst for Buxton to up their game , combined with some of the young Millers tiring due to having a bare 11 available.
Buxton soon got an equaliser, a long ball for the excellent Buxton number 7 getting the better of the centre backs and finishing well.
About 5 minutes later, Buxton scored a goal to take the lead which was a carbon copy of their 1st goal.
Despite the setback and some clear signs of tiredness, the Millers dug in and manged to get an equaliser with 7 mins to go, excellent work from Toft down the left crossed a dangerous ball through the 6 yard box for Blake to tap in at the back post.
Not settling for a point, the young Millers buoyed by their equaliser, got a late winner that they thoroughly deserved,
Toft with a smart finish. Blake ensured the victory with the final touch of the match with New Mills capitalising in a mistake from Buxton at the back.
A deserved 4-2 win for the Millers who had the desire and determination to fight their way out of the situation they found themselves in late in the 2nd half.
POTG was a difficult one today and could have gone to a vast number of players. In the end we gave it to 2 players.
Danny, who was excellent at left back and had by far his best game playing for the Millers.
Jack Bull, worked tirelessly in the number 10 position and worked back really well to help the midfield and defense out.
Fantastic performance and a deserved 3 points.
