Match report NMJFC U8 Hornets - 04/12/22
It was back to business for The Hornets who had taken time to reflect on last weeks outstanding game against Chapel Blues. We didn’t get what we deserved and this is a fantastic education for our kids who are learning life-lessons through sport. This is what it’s all about!
As a team, this weekend was slightly different as we had absentees on the side-line & the pitch but everybody knows their role in the squad and luckily this group are privileged to have a wonderful set of people ‘actively’ involved and available to help. If anybody is absent, another volunteer just steps-in and make it possible for the team to continue progressing on their football journey. That’s exactly what happened this weekend.
The Hornets needed to show how they are capable of bouncing back and believing in themselves and nobody did that more than Albie! Last week he left the pitch disappointed. Unjustifiably, as he was brilliant! These kids of ours are just turning 8 years old and I’m constantly amazed by how much Sunday mornings mean to them!
Anyway – Back To The Game
Finley was terrific at the back ensuring we protected our goalkeepers. You’ll never get past ‘Our Finners’!
Ollie M took the gloves and was incredible - keeping The Mini-Millers in the game. Nobody is more of a team player than Ollie. Even though we didn’t get the start we wanted this little group are passionate and have a belief that if they play the game properly they will succeed. They came back from an early set-back. It was Albie just blowing everybody away with a stand-out performance. This is how you turn things around!
Second Half – Oliver L took the liberty of going in goal whilst his Dad was sunning himself abroad. Oliver L is a fantastic footballer and that is what makes him such a good goalie. He understands the game more than any child I know of this age…… Keep it Big Man, absolutely brilliant.
As Ronan & Ollie M did all the hard-work, tracking back and then creating opportunities it was no surprise to see The Hornets get their rewards. Jessica was thriving once more and she is really enjoying being involved at such a high-standard of football.
Oliver B had been given an unfamiliar task of playing at the back, then in midfield, out-wide & then up-top. He still managed to score ⚽️ It’s incredible when the kids test themselves in different positions and this is something we will encourage more as coaches. It’s all about development and I can assure they are all progressing.
Albie took Player of the Match for his match-ball +1 performance⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️ Well Done Albs!
Special Mention to Ollie M & Oliver L who both took responsibility of making sure we have fantastic goalkeepers as well as goal-scorers!
