Match Report NMJFC U8s - 04/11/23

A 9:50 kick off against Inter Cheadle South at Brinnington in the Stockport Metro league.

The U8’s were without James today, and against a side we have played against a few times, we knew we would need to be at our best to get a result.

Jackson had volunteered to go in goal for the first half, well done Jackson ! We started with Rhys in defence, Charlie T and Stanley in midfield and Charlie J as striker.

Charlie J was going to be our 2nd half keeper so a quick pep talk about getting the most from the first 20 minutes before the start seemed well worth it when he took advantage of a perfectly placed pass in from Stanley to put us 1-0 up within the first few minutes.

As always with Inter Cheadle, we seam to go ahead before they get started, but they always come back, and today was no different.

We added Teddy into the mix who soon got stuck in and put the ball into Stanley from a throw, who once again crossed the ball into Charlie J for number 2. Superb play boys !

A few more change’s getting Rhys into midfield where he won an own goal from a throw, and Stanley also getting a goal. Charlie T dropped into defence, defending any chances Inter Cheadle made.

The 2 half came around and it was all even. Charlie J took on goal keeping duty, and Jackson entered the field after a brief warm up.

The 2nd half was tough, with both teams really getting stuck in, both wanting to take the lead in this evenly matched game.

After a brief moment where Inter Cheadle took the lead we started to settle into more of a rhythm with Stanley getting 2 more goals and Charlie T coming very close.

Lots of hard work from Jackson who was focused on stopping there attacks building, and also Teddy who despite picking up a knock in the first half, continued to cover where needed.

Another great team performance today, against a very tough and well organised opposition.

Player of the match was awarded to Rhys.

Rhys played every outfield position today, and seemed so well suited, however it was his final stint in defence which really set this performance apart. Superb today Rhys !

Well done U8’s !
