Match Report NMJFC U8s - 25/11/23
Today the U8’s were up against Buxton Young Bucks FC Whites, for the 11:30 kick off at Brinnington in the Stockport Metro junior league.
New Mills’ starting line up was James in goal, Charlie T in defence, Stanley and Rhys in midfield and Charlie J as striker.
New Mills started well, putting together some good passes and creating attacks. Charlie J was unlucky to not open up the scoring and Rhys and Stanley linked up well in midfield, with Charlie T staying strong at the back.
Unfortunately, Rhys took a knock and the Young Bucks were quick to take the advantage and go ahead.
The goal took New Mills by surprise and an injured Rhys came off and was replaced by Teddy. It was back and forth for a while, until one of Teddy's ‘long throws’ put Stanley in a good position for a goal - he got the equaliser we needed to get back in the game - well done Stanley!!
New Mills were starting to take more control and Stanley added one more before the break. Fair play to the Young Bucks keeper who was making some excellent saves.
Second half came around and we had Jackson in for Charlie J. Jackson got in on goal only for it to hit the side netting - so close Jackson!
The game was getting quite intense with some great football, but Buxton weren’t letting us through or allowing us to control the game like we wanted to.
The game was getting closer to time and James was getting more and more work to do in goal, pulling off many great saves.
Eventually, Buxton found their response from a corner and they were ready to go again. The attacks kept coming and despite our best efforts. They were winning corner after corner, with each one getting closer as they applied more pressure.
This seemed to shock the Millers into life and there were a few last ditch attacks but Buxton were countering just as fast, all the way up to the whistle.
A tricky game today, against a very tough opposition in Buxton Young Bucks who didn’t give up.
Player of the match award was given to James. He was superb once again, and without some of his awesome saves, the result could have been very different. Well done James!
