Match Report NMJFC U8s - 28/10/23

Our favourite 9am start for the U8’s this week, against Juno United Panthers at Brinnington, in the Stockport Metro Junior League.

We had played Juno Pumas a few weeks back which ended in a draw, so we expected to be in for another tough game.

Despite a late night for the U8’s who were all out celebrating Halloween, all the kids looked spritely and eager to get started.

We opted for a starting line up of Charlie J as striker, Teddy and Stanley in midfield, with James in defence, and Charlie T in goal.

New Mills started well stringing together some good passes, however we struggled initially to get the ball out of our half, credit to all the lads working hard to get the ball forward which created a few chances on the counter but we just hadn’t quite found that magic to our game.

A tough few minutes followed with both teams playing some really nice football.

It would eventually come down to our top goal scorer Stanley to break the deadlock, followed by CharlieJ who is also in great form at the moment, both forming a great partnership at the front.

Juno weren’t going to let us have all the fun and gave James and Teddy plenty to deal with at the back, with Charlie T also putting in some good saves

A reshape at half time with Teddy volunteering to take the 2nd half in goal, well done Teddy for taking this one for team.

2nd half lined up with Charlie T dropping into defence, Rhys and James going into midfield, and Jackson taking a stint as striker.

Superb play by all with Stanley and Charlie dipping back in to keep fresh legs.

A big well done to the whole team, who showcased arguably their best football to date, however we as coaches know there is still more to come from these boys.

Jackson continued to be a problem for the opposition, stopping any opportunity before it got started, in their half.

James, a superb defensive display in the first half and really mixed things up in midfield.

Charlie T pulling off some great stops in the first half, before stopping the attacked form defence.

Teddy, a real solider, playing his hardest whatever is asked, defence, midfield, goalkeeper, a great team player who will do whatever is asked.

Captain Rhys, so glad to see him at his best, defence, and midfield finished off perfectly with a typical Rhys goal, leaving the opposition keeper with no chance of a save.

Charlie J hitting another 2 home, Charlie J has only been with us for 8 games having only joined the match group this season and is really nailing down the striker position.

And finally, our player of the match Stanley.

Today Stanley was simply unplayable, and not content with getting 4 goal’s himself, he helped the team so much and also set up his team mates. Stanley’s work rate is second to none, and today he demonstrated his skill and pure determination to win.

A incredible effort all around boys ! Superb!!
