Match report NMJFC U8s Hornets V Chapel Town Yellows - 02/04/22
Then before you know it, it’s the last league game of the season!
The Hornets were facing one of our toughest opponents in Chapel Town Yellows. There are different levels of quality in any Junior Football but The Hornets know they have to give it their all when facing quality opposition like this and they didn’t let us a down.
First-Half Ollie M went in goal and he was fantastic! We were on Pitch 2 at Glossopdale (The middle pitch) so the parents of both teams were gathered behind Ollie’s goal and you could hear the support for both teams more than I have ever heard it before. He dealt with it perfectly and I think it almost took him up another level as he made some brilliant saves.
At the back Frankie & Finley showed their value. The pair of them were defending for their lives but at the same time, they were creating the attacks and you don’t get too many of them against a side of this quality. Oliver L has just completed his first season and he just fits the mould perfectly and it seems to feel like he’s always been here.
In attack we had Albie & Oliver B in the first half and these two will run through brick-walls to get an opportunity to shoot on goal. It was a real test for the pair of them and this is wonderful because as coaches, we can see them improving and having to find solutions. They never stopped.
Second-Half our maestro volunteered to take the gloves. Albie is right on his game at the moment and at times he simply unstoppable. So when he wants to ‘Go In Nets’ we sometimes wonder if it is the right decision…IT WAS!
Albie once again produced some outrageous saves that kept the boys in with a chance. Ollie M was outfield now and the way he is playing at the moment is awesome to watch. Himself & Oliver B were playing passes and opening up the Chapel defence and it felt like the goal was coming. Never more so than when Frankie hit a volley in the last minute that was heading into the top corner…. An incredible save denied the boys but absolutely nobody was upset as The Hornets had just produced a performance that reflects their desire & ambition.
Every single one of them had put in a perfect performance and it was impossible to give out a Player of the Match. The Team won it. 🏆
We also had the pleasure of Harry Budd ❤️ on the side-line again with his Mum & Dad. This little man epitomises everything we want our own children to learn from playing this beautiful game we all love so much. He is digging deep right now and trying his very best to be involved. He is so positive and it must have been very difficult to watch all his pals play whilst not being involved. Harry did it all with a smile on his face and we all celebrated together at the end of the game.
