Match Report NMJFC U9's Hornets v Chinley White - 1/10/23
The Hornets have adapted to the 7v7 game really well and the boys are absolutely loving it right now. As the rain refused to stop, so did our Mini-Millers who used the wet conditions to our benefit and zipped the ball around at a pace it was unstoppable at times.
This Chinley team had a game plan and the lads took a bit of time to get to grips with the long ball & physicality of our opposition but it was a good test and a different dynamic to what we expected.
We were patient, confident and in control and this proved to be the difference as we just continued to play the game in the way we had prepared. On the floor, passing and linking up the attacks in the knowledge that we would get our rewards.
I say it time & time again but the belief these boys have in each other is what impresses the coaches most. Some of the passing is amazing and the way they trust each other is evident when you see them trying to find the perfect goal.
In tough conditions, the boys dug in and stuck to our principals! Nobody represented this more than Albie who won Player of the Match🏆 This lad has all the tools in his locker to become a fabulous football player. This weekend he showed us how he can listen, create & then provide opportunities for others within his team to finish the move.
It wasn't only Albs, Oliver B was fantastic and he is just loving his football right now. Ollie M is scoring goals left, right & center! Ronan the Rocket has added so much more to his game. He has taken the role of left-wing but is defending for his life and playing the ball into phenomenal goal-scoring opportunities.
Fenn, Finley, Frankie & Oliver L - You boys are doing incredible!
Goalie & defence is not the most glamorous position (particularly when you're having to defend long balls that you can't header under an FA trial) but you boys have a special bond. The next few weeks should prove to be more testing and this will allow you to show your full skill-set.
Loads of goals, Loads of fun & an incredible desire to keep learning and try your hardest!
