Match Report NMJFC U9Bees - 08/10/23
New Mills Bees U9 vs Whaley Bridge Sharks U9
It was a complete contrast to last weeks conditions at Glossopdale, with a lovely warm day bringing perfect conditions for football. The Bees were missing Rocco this week, so once more we had the ever reliable James from the Under 8's to step in and help. We also borrowed Frankie H to ensure we had a sub to allow players to have a rest when needed.
The line up this week: Stanley in goal, William and James in defence, Millie, Leo and Brooke across the middle with Charlie upfront. A quick teamtalk from coach Rick about not giving up, fighting for the 2nd ball, making sure we look for a pass and making sure we help each other out seemed to work wonders.
We kicked off at 11.30 sharp and the Bees came flying out of the hive, pressing the Whaley team from the word go. A quick break by the Bees saw Charlie get his first of the day. That settled the team down and the passing game started to develop, more pressure from the Bees earned a corner. This was taken by Brooke and hit with such precision, it cannoned off a Whaley player and into the net.
Everything seemed to click into place for the Bees, another break through the middle saw Brooke find the back of the net. It was a pleasure to watch the team looking to pass forward and our wingers finding space to run into.
Another break from the Bees with some great work by Millie gave Charlie his second of the game. Leo hit a cracker from long range that rattled the crossbar, bounced down only for the Whaley keeper to tightly grab hold of it.
James and William were ready for action when called upon, meaning Stanley had to stay sharp... but when he was called upon, he was immense.
Half time came and the Bees had a well earned rest and some refreshment. Energised for the second half, the Bees started the same way as they did the first half. Frankie was introduced and gave the Bees a new dynamic in pushing forward.
More great work by the Bees from William working well with Millie saw Brooke receive the ball and hit the back of the net. Millie had worked tirelessly on the left being a constant threat to the Whaley defence, which finally paid off when a great move from the Bees saw Millie knock it past the keeper. Millie only recently joined the team but looks like she's been part of things for much longer.
CW7 was on the hunt for a hat trick and and soon grabbed his third of the game. This was a performance from the Bees that was an absolute pleasure to watch.
More pressure from the Bees saw Frankie get on the scoresheet. A Whaley attack looked dangerous with 3 against 1 but William was more than upto the task and stopped them in their tracks with a fine tackle, then found a great forward pass. It's great to see how William has settled playing with hopefully some new found friends.
With not long remaining in the second half, Charlie hadn't finished adding to his tally for the day and scored another couple of goals to round off a fantastic term performance from the Bees.
Every single player from Stanley, William, James, Leo, Brooke, Millie, Charlie, Frankie should be proud of how they all played as a team today. Special thanks again to James and Frankie for their help, very much appreciated.
It's great when things come together, straight forward instructions put into practice on the pitch.
Tough call for Player of the match today with so many great performances all over the pitch. In the end, Charlie was our PoTM with a great performance.
We go again next week..... against our rivals................. The Hornets 🐝
