Match Report NMJFC U9s Girls v Tintwistle U9s Girls - 11/11/23

Another exciting match was expected as we faced Tintwistle for the first time this season. As always, we were expecting a difficult game.

The squad was down to eight this week with Paige, our sop scorer missing from the squad.

Once again, this week, the goalkeeper shirt & gloves were shared out on a squad rota, with Agnes and Jessica playing a half each. Both girls put in terrific performances, putting in some great saves, there were periods during the match that shots were being peppered towards our goal, but they both stood strong and kept smiling; well done!

With Paige missing, we were hoping for other players to step-up in front of goal, and the team did NOT disappoint. We had several chances in the first half, with both Emily and Ebony putting in some excellent efforts, and were unlucky not to score.

The first half was an even affair, with the ball spending a lot of time in midfield with both teams put in some terrific tackling.

The coaches agree that the team are getting a lot better at challenging opposition players and putting in some terrific blocks, in particular, Millie put in some fearless challenges throughout the whole match.

Seren, Annabella, Ava and Jessica made some important tackles putting what they have been doing in training into practice.

In the second half, Seren took the initiative, with Tintwistle pushing the team back, she kept herself up the pitch, and we tried to hit them on the break. She’d already had a great run and shot early in the half, but missed narrowly wide.

Halfway through the second half, she collected a great clearance from Millie, collected the ball on the halfway line and set-off towards the Tintwistle goal. She glided past the last defender and slotted the ball past the keeper into the bottom left corner of the goal. The roar from the WolfCat Ultra was deafening! Seren earned the player of the match for her efforts.

This was an excellent performance all round, and having only been training together since July, and playing since September, the improvements that we are seeing is clear for all. Well done girls and keep it up as your making all of the parents and coaches VERY proud.
