Match Report NMJFC U9s vs Glossop North End Community Club U9s – 20/01/2024
We were pleased that today’s game was able to take place, despite the freezing temperatures experienced earlier this week, however we were unfortunately down to a team of 8, as Agnes was poorly (get well soon Agnes!)
With the girls’ confidence in the game growing each week, the games are getting much closer and more exciting to watch each week, and this game did not disappoint! Starting our line-up today we had Ava in goal, Annabella and Paige in defence and Jessica and Millie upfront. The initial 15 minutes set the tone for the game, with our team dominating the field. Ava, guarding the net, exhibited exceptional skills with a number of crucial saves and quick thinking to distribute the ball effectively to her teammates. Defenders Paige and Annabella contributed to the offensive efforts by pushing up the field with well-timed tackles, creating opportunities for the forwards Jessica and Millie, who up front, displayed renewed energy and determination, with possession tilting largely in our favour.
As the game progressed, we saw Ebony, Seren and Emily all entering the field, and the trio made impactful contributions to the game, each passing well and having shots on goal. Seren, true to her style, scored the first goal - a well-timed pass, a sprint, and a precise shot that gracefully found the net.
With Ebony now in the goal for the second half, our team continued to dominate the game with increased intensity. Here we saw our second goal, a joint effort between Seren and Annabella, and a goal that really spurred the team on.
Passing became a hallmark of our second-half performance, with players working cohesively to move the ball up the field and recover possession. Next it was Millie’s turn to demonstrate her own scoring prowess by netting a solid strike from a beautiful through pass from Emily, soon followed by Annabella. Paige, too, then got on the scoresheet, receiving the ball from Jessica and unleashing a powerful shot that found the back of the net.
The second half proved to be an exciting spectacle for spectators, and as Manager, I couldn't be prouder of the team's performance. Today's match was not just a victory on the scoreboard but a testament to the girls’ resilience, adaptability, and growing camaraderie.
Player of the week went to Jessica, who in particular this week, showcased a revitalized performance, making impressive runs with the ball, delivering precise passes, and demonstrating a heightened awareness on the field in general. Well done Jessica, and well done to all the girls for such as fantastic game!
