A decent match against a good opponent that we have gotten to know well. The young Millers were slow out of the blocks today, taking time to adapt to a larger pitch and also trying out a couple of players in different positions. There was also a debut for our newest player India. The team struggled for intensity in the first half and were a little off with their awareness and positioning, this along with some nice football from the Vipers sent the Millers in at halftime 4 down. After a chat at halftime about positioning and being aware about players drifting in behind, New Mills came out and gave a much better account of themselves, they were much more in control of the match, playing some great football using the wings to good effect and working the ball forward, they had much better discipline and competed great without the ball, putting in some strong tackles and helped out by Cole in net when needed.
New Mills were rewarded for their 2nd half work with 2 goals without reply. A nice finish from Dan W and a super free kick from Darragh straight into the top right corner.
Player of the match went to India for slotting in very nicely on her debut, not looking out of place and working really hard for the team.
