What a morning we had on Sunday up at Glossopdale! New Mills Blacks have just raised the bar to another level and produced the greatest performance of their inaugural season in The High Peak Junior Football League.
As usual, we had the early kick-off time of 8:45am and at 8:35am the game was going to be called-off due to the horrendous conditions. It was pouring down and the wind was swirling. The whole team waiting in their cars and a decision had been made to protect the children’s welfare…. Then suddenly it stopped! GAME ON.
The first-half was the best 15 minutes we have played all season! We bossed the game and were in complete control. We pressed the Chapel defence and they had nowhere to go. On another day we would have taken those chances.
Second-half was just as good. Massive tackles and loads energy being displayed by our courageous bunch kids was a delight to watch. It was a fantastic performance and the teams coaches were as 'proud as punch' of the way you are all progressing. We discussed it long into the afternoon.
We have our final game of this particular group stage next week against Chapel Town Yellows. We are in great form and I expect us to finish in style.
Thanks to all our parents and family friends who turned up on Sunday. It’s incredible how dedicated this little squad are and you should all be very proud of yourselves.
Well done Ollie M & Frankie for going in goal. You were both brilliant.
