Match report NMJFC Under 7s Blacks - 20/03/22

A beautiful morning at Glossopdale with the sun shining bright and the perfect conditions for a good game of football.

Jacob took the gloves and was absolutely outstanding in goal once again. Hayfield came at us and in all honesty, New Mills Blacks were found wanting. This period of the game was being totally controlled by a confident & determined Hayfield side who looked like they had a point to prove & due to our recent successes against them, I felt like a little bit of complacency had grown in our team so changes were made to impact the game.

Hayfield’s pressure paid off and they got their reward for an electric start to the match. NM Blacks reacted and this was exactly what we had been waiting to see. The ball was being moved quickly and the passing was accurate and decisive.

We won a corner and Oliver B swung it in….. and with a bit of luck – the ball ended up in the back of the net. Well Done Oliver! When it’s tough going, you make your own luck & that is exactly what happened.

Lots of changes in personnel meant all the kids got some minutes. It’s really important that when every individual gets on that pitch that they use that moment to apply themselves & get involved. As coaches, we have an impossible job of trying to fit 9 players into a 5-A-Side team. What will always do, is make sure that those kids playing are giving their all. If not, we rotate the squad.

Albie’s performance in goal in the second-half kept us in the game. He was incredible & that is the reason we were fortunate enough to leave with our current unbeaten run in this group still going.

A special mention to Jacob. Not only was he brilliant in goal in the first-half, but second half he stood up to the challenge of leading the team and was an inspiration. Well done Jacob!

Derby-Day next weekend!
