v SK Vipers
WHAT A MATCH!
As last weeks match was cancelled due to subzero temperatures and this week we were given the later kick-off time, I was hoping New Mills Blacks would be raring to go this morning at Glossopdale…… I’m still learning!
We were caught napping and SK Vipers took advantage. They were up for it and a great strike from their No. 7 seen them take an early lead. Before we could dust ourselves down, the same Vipers player had grabbed himself another goal. New Mills Blacks were in need of some help. Luckily, we had a trick up our sleeve. On the sidelines was Albie Duffy, itching to get on the pitch and get involved. Boom💥 Albie shoots from distance and it was a peach⚽️ New Mills were back in the game just before half-time.
Second half was much better. Frankie & Ollie M worked their socks off making sure they protected our goal and this enabled us to get on the attack. The equaliser was coming, you just knew it. Then Albie popped up again⚽️ NM Blacks version of Kevin De Bruyne equalised. Game on!
It was one-way traffic now as we hunted down that winner. Albie was denied by the post. Oliver B had great chance saved and we must have reached double figures for corners as the match approached full-time. Then the ball broke to Frankie who was through on goal with the chance to win it….. GOAL⚽️ He slotted home with his left-foot to give New Mills Blacks exactly what they deserved.
Fantastic performance by the whole team. Lot’s of passion on show and you should all be very proud of yourselves.
Special mention to Oliver B & Stanley who both took a half each in goal. Both were fantastic and kept their concentration throughout.
