The Falcons were super excited to play against the NMJ U8 Eagles for the very first time in a competitive game.
After an excellent performance last week, the Falcons (who were back with a full squad) were determined to build on that today. The priorities for the Falcons today were to keep their shape, more talking to each other and be mindful of how quickly the opposition can break when they have the ball.
The Falcons picked up where they left off last week with a first half full of energy, great passing and commitment in winning every loose ball. Their communication was great and this meant they kept their shape really well.
A few changes in the second half and the spectators were treated to another brilliant half of football, which was more open and end to end. More chances for both teams which spurred on both sets of players and the vocal supporters in creating a real derby atmosphere.
At the final whistle there were huge cheers from the spectators and both teams came together to congratulate each other on a game that did New Mills Juniors proud.
Goals today from Alfie ⚽️⚽️⚽️ and Poppy ⚽️⚽️ who continue to develop an amazing level of understanding between them.
Special mention to today’s captain Holly. Holly’s last few performances have been outstanding and today was no exception. Her first half performance in midfield was awesome - fantastic passing, tackling, tracking and marking from set pieces. Holly was ace today.
Well done Falcons - you were all brilliant!
And a huge call out to the Eagles who are continuing to grow as a team and that was evident in some of their great football today.
