A glorious morning at Glossopdale as the Falcons lined up against CHCS U8 Lions.
Always tough games against today’s opposition, so the Falcons knew they had to be on their game from the first whistle.
First half started off evenly. Both teams creating good chances, looking to pass the ball into the spaces and using their pace to run at the defence. As the half went on CHCS found their rhythm meaning the Falcons goalkeeper, Oscar, was called into action and made some great saves.
Changes at half-time and further forced changes early in the second half meant some disruption to the flow of the game, but after things had settled down the Falcons more than held their own and continued to create chances right up to the final whistle.
Amazing resilience shown this afternoon from Henry and Angus 👏🏻
Brilliant goals today from Alfie ⚽️⚽️ and Poppy ⚽️⚽️
Special mention to today’s captain Holly. Fresh from winning our player of the week trophy in training on Monday, she took this form and confidence into today’s game. First half she played as our main striker and was excellent at pressing their defenders, making runs into space and almost got on the scoresheet. In the second half Holly played most of the period as our main defender. She listened to instructions and as the last player back ensured she stayed firm with her excellent tackling, marking and passing the ball forward. Holly was immense today.
Well done Falcons - the best we’ve played against this opposition this season. Roll on next week!
