Match report NMJFC Under 8s Falcons - 27/03/22

Another sunny day at Glossopdale as the Falcons lined up against Whaley Bridge U8’s.

With a couple of the squad unavailable, it meant more game time for the others and they absolutely stepped up to the plate!

First half the performance was excellent. 100% commitment into every tackle, great communication and creating a number of chances to test the opposition goalkeeper. A real pleasure to watch.

Second half the Falcons started really well. Non stop running, making excellent tackles and always looking to pass the ball to a team mate. As the half went on, the heat took over and legs got a bit tired and Oscar (our goalkeeper) was being called into action a lot more, making some great saves.

Huge thank you to Archie from the Eagles for stepping in as extra cover for the Falcons and helping us when legs started to get tired in the second half. And he bagged an excellent goal too! ⚽️

Special mention to today’s captain, Henry. He’s made the transition from defender to midfielder and today was a great example of how his understanding and reading of the game has improved so much. His first half performance in particular was one of his best this season, constant running, tackling and looking to pass to his team mates. He was also so unlucky not to score as his first half free kick smashed against the cross bar. So close!

Super proud of the Falcons today - they were all amazing and showed how much they have improved this season. A big shout out to all of the families and friends who were there watching the game too. Loads of positive encouragement which the players fed off!

Roll on next week… for another New Mills derby!
