NMJFC U8 Hawks v Glossop North End
A glorious day in Glossop was kicked off with a minutes silence in remembrance of our armed forces who gave their lives in the line of duty.
The match started brightly with lots of attacking play from Glossop which forced our 1st half goalkeeper Harley to stay on his toes. Glossop have been our toughest opponent this season and we knew we’d have to concentrate and be well organised to stay competitive and that’s exactly what The Millers did. We matched them all over the pitch after going a goal down and had plenty of chances to score but couldn’t get past the Glossop keeper who made some fantastic saves.
Changes at half time saw Kian enter as our number 1 between the sticks, with Harley, Leo and Ella coming on change our play outfield.
Great pressure followed by excellent passing and movement saw New Mills get straight back into the game with a great equaliser from Leo. Harley’s blistering pace saw him slot home after a 1 v 1 with the keeper which gave us the lead and allowed us to settle more into the game. Captain Liam had a solid day at the back with some expert defensive help from Joe and Ella. Kian made some fantastic saves when Glossop looked certain to score and Brooke showed her play making class with some top draw balls forward.
Another couple of goals from Leo stamped his hat trick on what turned out to be the icing on the cake after an amazing performance from the whole team.

Man of the match: Shea 🏆 outstanding performance yet again from this lad and he worked his socks off relentlessly from the first kick off the game.
This team have been guilty of letting their heads drop when going behind but this season and particularly this fixture has shown what a fantastic attitude and mentality they have developed to turn things around. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
