Match report NMJFC Under 8s Hornets - 19/02/23
The Hornets are in great form right now and went into the weekends game against Chapel Yellows with absolutely nothing to fear as they had proved to themselves in the week, that they will match-up and dig deep, no matter who or how big the opposition are.
Ronan The Rocket 🚀 was back at Glossopdale for The Hornets team and he took the gloves first half. He was brilliant and particularly unfortunate as Chapel seemed to have ‘Lady-Luck’ on their side and took the early advantage.
We always seem to start nervously in these games against our toughest opponents. We just couldn’t manage to find that confidence that the boys display every other week……
It’s definitely something we can work on and as coaches but it wasn’t long before The Hornets were pinging the ball around & setting each other up. It’s outstanding when they pass like this with such accuracy. Feeding the forwards and then the goals followed.
The Hornets began to grow in confidence and the belief came back. Albie ⚽️ & Oliver B ⚽️ both found the back of the net before Half-Time and The Hornets were back in the game. Nothing less than the boys deserved.
Second-Half our maestro took the gloves. Albie has been incredible this season but what I love most is the way he’ll offer to go in goal. He was brilliant as always and adopted the ‘Sweeper-Keeper’ role and was winning tackles well outside his area. The boys were enjoying themselves and Rocket ⚽️ got a well deserved goal. The game was intense, and could have gone either way.
Another outstanding display from a team who don’t know how to give up! You boys are constantly learning (As are the Coaches) and we missed Finley today and his ability to close the opposition down before they create an attack. Luckily, we get to do it all again….. week after next.
POTM went to Ollie M. He had already won Wednesday U8’s training trophy 🏆, earlier in the week and made it a double by collecting Sunday’s match-day award too🏆This young man is getting better & better and there were moments in the game when he’s head would have dropped previously. Not anymore! Ollie M sorted himself out and by the time the ref blew the final whistle, he was the best player on the pitch. Well done Ollie 👏
Enjoy Half-Term. Take a nice earned rest and we will be back very soon to blow your socks off💥
