Match Report NMJFC Under 9s Falcons - 03/10/22
There was excitement in the air for the first New Mills Juniors U9’s derby of the season as the Falcons prepared to take on the Eagles at Glossopdale.
With both teams missing players, there was no telling which way the game was going to go.
Both teams were definitely up for it this morning and the game got started at a frenetic pace. Great passing from both teams with chances at both ends, but the Eagles quickly applied pressure and were on top for the early stages. The Falcons needed to dig deep and started to get more of the ball, playing some excellent passes forward to end the first half strongly.
The last two games, the Falcons have really struggled in the second half. But with a derby at stake, the Falcons came out for the second half exactly how we’ve wanted them to - fantastic energy, great communication and working hard to win every loose ball. The second half was a brilliant advert for our NMJ teams with an evenly matched end to end battle.
The final whistle came and both teams should be congratulated on a brilliant game. Huge thanks to both sets of spectators, who played their part cheering the teams on for the full match.
Special mention to today’s captain and well deserved man of the match, Oscar, who made excellent saves in both halves at key stages of the game. He’s also worked really hard on his distribution, with his goal kicks having 100% accuracy today.

Also a huge thank you to Brooke, from our U8’s, who provided some extra cover to the squad to cover our absences. His second half cameo was a real pleasure to watch.
Super proud of every single Falcon today. They were all buzzing at the end of the game and deservedly so. A consistent performance from start to finish which is exactly what we’ve been waiting for. Well done team - roll on next week!
