MATCH REPORT NMJU8 23rd September
Another 9am kick off for the U8’s at Brinnington, in the Stockport Metro league.
Today we we’re against a new team, Hattersley Lionesses.
Todays line up was James in goal, with Rhys (C) in defence, Jackson and Stanley in midfield with Charlie J as striker.
New Mills started strong with Stanley immediately finding the net. Some great passing followed and had us controlling the game.
Rhys forced an own goal with a strong shot, and Stanley took a couple more opportunities on goal which came his way.
A change around brought on Charlie T in defence and Teddy on as striker.
The Lionesses took this opportunity to test our new defence, and James in goal. Both took on the challenge and successfully held their own.
Once we found our rhythm we were pressing, and taking advantage of a goal keeping error, Teddy jumped at the chance to take his first goal of the season.
A change of tact at half time for both teams. We switched things around so more players had the opportunity of different positions, and the Lionesses came out much stronger, letting us know that there were not going to make it easy for us.
A couple more for Teddy, Stanley and Rhys before Charlie J got his first goal since joining the match day team.
This is just what Charlie needed, and moments later he found the net again.
A really great game all round for New Mills, Stanley adding more goals to his tally, Teddy, Rhys and Charlie J all opening their campaign.
Not possible with the solid tackles from Jackson in midfield, and Charlie T keeping things tight at the back. Great goalkeeping by James and some really big clearances.
Player of the match was awarded to Stanley. Stanley’s work rate was excellent, he was relentless on goal and put in some great passes to get his teammates in on the action.
