Match report NMJU9 Eagles v Chapel Yellows - 29/01/23

A depleted Eagles team turned up on this cold Sunday morning for what is always a hard match against Chapel Yellows.

Hopes seemed high with three loaned players coming in, and the players didn’t disappoint.

The first half play was magnificent and they passed and played with lots of passion and energy.

They defended brilliantly with the loaned player and captain for the day Liam from the Hawks. Liam was simply everywhere in defence and with help from Hayden alongside him, and Zac in goal, they kept the strong Chapel team to minimal chances.

They pushed forward at every opportunity and Liam came close a few times from corners.

It was a team effort in this first half as their play was superb all around. Poppy, Frankie and Sami linked the play up magnificently in midfield and Robbie ran his socks off up front. Constantly taking on board instructions and changing his play to suit.

A half time change brought Brooke into play and Sami pushed forward but their game didn’t drop. Fewer chances were created in the second half but the Eagles didn’t drop their intensity and kept trying to push forward at every opportunity.

Quickfire goals from Chapel didn’t affect the Eagles concentration and they kept going. No player gave up and every single one of them gave 100%. They all came off the pitch knowing they tried their best and it was arguably their best performance of the season.

Massive thanks to the Hawks, Falcons and Wasps for their part in loaning players whilst we were depleted.

Every player can be proud of the part they played today.

Zac was superb again in goal. Liam and Hayden solid at the back. Poppy, Frankie and Brooke fantastic in midfield. They kept running all match. Sami and Robbie in attack chased every ball forward.

Very tough decision for player of the match after their play today. It was down to Poppy and Liam, but Liam just got it. He was everywhere today. He won every ball that came near him.

Well done Liam. Well done Eagles
