Today’s game marked the much-anticipated return of Jessica, back from injury and stepping onto the pitch for her first game of the season. And what a return it was! Our starting lineup saw Ava in goal, Annabella and Millie holding down the defence, with Jessica leading the line up front. Paige commanded the centre, while Ebony and Emily provided support on the wings, creating a dynamic and energetic midfield.
Facing the experienced Stockport Dynamoes. The early stages of the game were a masterclass in defensive resilience, combined with slick passing and sharp teamwork that kept the opposition on their toes.
Jessica wasted no time getting into the game, controlling the midfield with composed passes. Ebony and Emily were a force on the wings, advancing the attack while falling back to defend when needed. In goal, Ava was brilliant, making crucial saves and reading the game well with smart ball distribution.
Millie was a powerhouse at the back, showing great skill in transitioning from defence to attack.
Paige was a constant threat, with several shots on target, while Annabella's fearless tackles were pivotal, showing she is a defender with no fear of getting stuck in.
The energy ramped up when Agnes and Poppy joined the action. Poppy took over the attack and immediately brought a new level of intensity, covering every blade of grass and testing the Stockport keeper with several sharp efforts.
Meanwhile, Agnes shone in midfield, making key tackles and distributing the ball with precision.
The second half saw the momentum shift.
Jessica moved between the posts, allowing Ava to take on an outfield role, and the entire team stepped up their game.
Poppy’s tireless work was rewarded when she scored a fantastic goal (her first of the season!), igniting a surge of energy that saw the girls lift their game even further.
Not long after, Paige, fired an unstoppable shot over the keeper’s head.
The Stockport Dynamoes were strong, but our girls showed they had the heart, grit, and determination to match them at every turn. It wasn’t just the goals that impressed today - it was the teamwork, the intelligent play, and the undeniable passion that shone through from every player.
Special recognition goes to Poppy, our player of the week. As one of the newest members of the squad, she displayed incredible talent and relentless work ethic, earning her goal and contributing massively to the team’s performance.
The result today wasn’t just about goals, it was about the unity and drive of our squad.
