Match Report NMJFC U9 Hornets
v Whaley Sharks 19/11/23
v Chapel Town 24/11/23
v Whaley Tigers 26/11/23
A busy week in the calendar for The Hornets who have actively been looking for extra matches to keep the boys playing during some of the most incredibly harsh weather that prevented them from training in recent weeks. Luckily we have some ‘All Weather Pitches’ locally that have allowed them to get out on that pitch and express themselves!
Back-to-Back Sunday games against both of the Whaley Bridge teams is our bread & butter but when you add Chapel Town in the middle as the filler, you know you have Football-Feast of a sandwich!
Game #1 Whaley Sharks – 19/11/23
An extremely wet Sunday morning that tested the kids character. They rose to the challenge with a hat-full of goals and a fantastic performance for a squad that hadn’t trained for a couple of weeks.
Ollie M is in fine form right now and seems to make scoring look very easy. He is having an incredible season so far!
Then Oliver L took over. This lad has scored some absolute belters recently and is never afraid to take a shot! He grabbed a couple then changed his focus to what he does best – Defending!
Whilst mentioning our Oliver’s we have in our team, Oliver B is also playing at a new level. His link-up play at times is unbelievable.
Frankie also grabbed himself plenty of goals but his ability to communicate is his greatest attribute right now. This season, as coaches, we are consciously taking a back step and allowing the players to organise themselves. They did fantastic and worked out a way to deal with the added players as the opposition were entitled to bring on. Albie scored a couple of screamers late on and Ronan found a way to hit the back of the net too!
The Player of the Match award went to the everyone of them!
🏆 💛🖤
Game #2 Chapel Town – 24/11/23
Friday Night - Under The Lights
Wow – What a game between two evenly matched sides who are very familiar with each other over the last few years and the mutual respect was evident for all to see.
Oliver B is back scoring and slotted home to give The Hornets the early advantage but it was by no means easy going.
Fenn was in the most incredible form between the posts and simply refused to allow that ball to get past him. He made multiple saves, with his feet, knees, chest, head, even hands but there was one particular save in the first-half that Fenn managed to get down, then almost scoop the ball back out and also got it away from an inevitable rebound. Absolutely Superb Fenn!
The lads were throwing themselves in front of every attack from the oppositions showed a commitment and desire to achieve. They are only 8 & 9 years old but they have the biggest hearts!
Finley just went to war & Albie reminded us all how good he is at passing and setting up the attacks aswell as getting back!
Fenn 🏆 won Player of the Match and rightly so. I can honestly say every single one of them played their best game and we couldn’t have been prouder of you.
Game #3 Whaley Tigers
The effects of the Chapel game were evident and the team took longer than normal to find their ‘Mojo’. Once they did, it was outrageous. Oliver B scoring a couple of goals again. This lad has been so unselfish this season and always looking to find another pass that makes the perfect goal. Today he was under orders to hit the ball first-time and it worked!
Ollie M, Frankie & Oliver L also continued their scoring run but I have to say, the moment of the game was the most sweetly struck free-kick from our Rocket! Nobody hits them cleaner than Ronan and you know it’s good when the other coaches are giving him a round of applause. Ronan The Rocket has been absolutely brilliant this season. He has understood the disciplines needed to play in defence but when he is on that left-wing…… Completely Unstoppable! Ronan 🏆 has been the Player of The Match almost every week but this Sunday he actually got to take the trophy home too. Keep it up Rocket
Back to weekly match-reports next week! Thanks to our unbelievable parents who support us in everything we do.
