The rain stopped the clouds disappeared and the sun was beaming. Not the start you expect on December 1st.
The Scorpions might not have got the start they expected this morning either. They came out all gun's blazing. Speed and power looked like the game plan. But they were up against a strong defence and an incredible young goalkeeper.
Leo had a go; Ted had a go and Will had a go. It wasn’t happening. The onslaught of attack was defended and parried away. Then came the captains' corner of which many players struggle to get on to the end of because of its power. This week a ricochet went in our favour.
However, this didn’t phase either team, the game continued. Chinley caught the scorpions off guard with some excellent pass and movement.
The scorpions carried on the fast and furious approach refusing to let the ball go into their own half even Rocco K and Will were stood as far up as the halfway line. Rocco T who was still on fire from the week before blasting shots at the net at every opportunity.
Game changers came on to the pitch. Dayvid who has a deep love for football and is determined to do well every game. Strong at the back and we are trying to develop him a little higher up the pitch as well. And Callum; Mr Composure. With Dylan not making the fit test this week. We took an opportunity to move Callum on the left wing. We know we can put him anywhere and he will be calm on the ball, and he didn’t let down. Got his head underneath the ball from a corner very quickly.
Half time whistle went, and the chat was about taking the opportunities earlier and looking for the pass.
The boys were as fast and furious in the second half as they were in the first. And even though each of our players had individual targets that they wanted to achieve this morning it didn’t stop any of them working as a team.
Alfie RUNS for his team, and he looks for the passes he’s completely selfless and he receives the same glory at the end of the match.
Ted who is known for winning the ball and smashing it. Showed everyone that he isn’t a one trick pony. He had some excellent footwork and his passing game with Leo was incredible. Leo set up so many chances and even took one for himself. Rocco T may be a future carpenter with the amount of woodwork he smashed. Dayvid strong as an Ox doesn’t give up on a tackle. Rocco K cool as a cucumber loves to push the play up the field.
Will is always reliable and this week we tried to pull him up the pitch and he took a few chances. Frankie is always on hand and the only goalkeeper that wishes he would get more action on the ball some great work as usually and some mind games. Another thing the keepers haven’t taught him.
Player of the Match goes to Mr Composure himself, Callum. He was given an opportunity and boy did he take it. Excellent football and a well-deserved PoTM ⚽️⚽️⚽️
The boys dedicated their match to coach Simon today. Every goal was for him, and they wanted to give back for all he does for them. Even in his hard times he turned up for his team.
We Love You Coach Simon. 🏆
